Tagged as an affordable & superb performing tablet, Google Nexus 7 has already arrived in market. The 7 inch tablet has got an encouraging start with major retailers running out of stock because of high demand of the gadget. Co-developed by Google and Taiwan's Asustek, the Nexus 7 is introduced at a reasonable price tag of $199.

The newly launched tablet is being compared with Apple's iPad. But, both the devices are very different from each other in terms of built, hardware, specifications, and of course the price factor.

The Google Nexus 7 is definitely not the iPad killer. Apple has always tried to create a hardware ecosystem so that its products are fully compatible with each other and applications run as smoothly as desired on these devices.

It is the latest Android OS, quadcore processor, and lower price of the Nexus 7, which is grabbing the attention of buyers. If geeks are to be believed, Google Nexus will give tough competition to Amazon's Kindle Fire and even Samsung's Galaxy Tablet range. Let's get into details of these gadgets.

Hardware

The tablet has phone capability and voice control feature. If you want to connect to the web, all you have got is Wi-Fi connectivity.

Firmware

The latest Android OS, Jelly Bean is one of the major attractions of Google Nexus 7. Though, Jelly Bean looks similar to Ice Cream Sandwich, but it has some specific features like Google Now (a voice recognition feature, Project Butter (for improved processor performance), NFC-based data sharing, and more. Applications like Tumblr and Instagram cannot be installed because the device isn't supportive. But, a fix is expected to arrive soon.

Both, iOS & Android are very different operating platforms with each having special characteristics. Therefore, it won't be wise enough to compare these operating systems.

Display & Camera

Nexus 7 has 1280x800 pixels display with 216 dpi. If we compare the display of Nexus 7 with first two versions of iPad & Amazon Kindle Fire, this is definitely better. But, the new iPad comes with Retina Display, which is still considered to be the best in the smart device industry. Nexus 7 lacks in rear camera but has a front facing camera to support VOIP calls & video conferencing.

With the starting price of $499, Apple's iPad still dominates the tablet market. But, Google has definitely surprised those looking for cheaper alternatives by introducing $199 Nexus 7.
