Lots To Do In Dallas-fort Worth
As summer fades away and we begin looking towards the fall, there are a lot of changes that take place over the next several months. Especially this year, it seems as though the next several months have a lot in store for all of us.
In October we can look forward to the Major League Baseball playoffs and World Series as well as the start of the NBA season. Halloween is right around the corner where kids will be knocking on the door looking for treats and dressed in their scariest costumes.
The beginning of November brings the presidential election and the dawn of a new era. Later that month we have Thanksgiving and a time to spend with family and friends to give thanks for all that we have. Thanksgiving Day we have the opportunity to eat loads of food and watch some of the best in sports rivalry battling it out on the gridiron.
Before you know it the Holidays sneak up on us and Christmas and Hanukah are here and more time with the family and those close. If you have not noticed, there will be a lot of time spent with family in the coming months, which can be delightful, as well as a little stressful ...
... for some. Most stress seems to sink in after all the catching up has been done and you are left with those last few days with the in-laws wondering how to fill the time and find something to do that will make everyone happy.
Thankfully, we live in a city where there is a lot to do in these months and most assuredly something that everyone will enjoy. The nightlife of Dallas-Fort Worth has plenty to offer everyone and can make those last few days enjoyable as well as memorable. Here are a few ideas of things to do that will make the whole family happy and get everyone out of the house.
Take the family out to an unusual dinner at Keith and Margo's Murder Mystery Dallas or Dallas Hub Theatre's Comedy Killer's Comedy Murder Mysteries. Both places offer a full menu, usually a 3 course dinner that is included in the price and a full cash bar available for Uncle Ned who likes his Scotch neat, not on the rocks. Both of these are fun for the whole family and wildly entertaining. Comedy Killers is more on the comedic side of things as the name suggests while Keith and Margo tend to stay on the serious side of the street. Both shows can be had for a reasonable price and there are companies offering discounted tickets to both. Reservations are required and these shows tend to sell out so plan ahead.
If you enjoy the performing arts, both Dallas and Fort Worth offer a large array of live entertainment ranging from theatre to dance to puppet shows for the kids. Finding something for everyone should not be too hard. Dallas Theatre Center puts on A Christmas Carol, as do numerous companies in the area. The Texas Ballet Theater puts on the Nutcracker, which is something that everyone should see at least once. Prices for both can be found reasonably, and if you have a big enough group, you can get a better discount. Weekend shows tend to sell out fairly quickly months in advance and if you want to sit together you might want to start planning now. Although, not sitting together might be more appealing depending on the occasion and who is in town!
If you don't mind traveling a bit you should consider going to the Texas Renaissance Festival in Magnolia, which is a small suburb outside of Houston. This is one of the most vivid memories I have as a child. Grabbing hold of an enormous turkey leg, watching the mud man swallow what seemed like pounds of mud to the delight of everyone watching, seeing the King walk around the grounds and shake my hand, goats wandering around the premises etc. etc. If you have a bit of extra dosh, buying tickets for the Kings Feast should be on the list of things to do where you can watch the knights joust just feet away.
These are only a few things to consider in the upcoming months, and believe me, there are plenty of other things to do. You just have to know where to look and have an idea of what the gang will want to do.
