San Diego dogs are running free as can be, enjoying a newly renovated dog park in North County San Diego. The San Diego Humane Society in partnership with Petco put together a $300,000 renovation, complete with artificial turf, walkways, gazebos, doggie drinking fountains, decorative fencing around the perimeter, and of course, pet proof synthetic landscaping.

The North County Humane Society called on Home Turf for the installation of their pet grass or synthetic turf. Home Turf installed 22,000-square feet of artificial turf, delivering a safe, sanitary setting for pets and their owners to get their game on. This large-scale installation is designed to hold up to high foot and paw traffic. The product chosen for this application was VersaTurf made by a artificial turf distributor based out of San Diego. VersaTurf is part of a 4 part system which includes Turfresh which incorporates a natural mineral to absorb odor . Turfill a acrylic coated infill made to give the turf extra weight and keep the blades upright and lastly Turfwash a non-toxic turf cleaner formulated specifically to clean and deodorize synthetic grass.

Another advantage of having a artificial lawn installed is that your pets paws stay clean, so if they come into your home or in this case enter the humane society facility they will not track in dirt. Which also means less time having to wash your pet. These are some of the considerations made by facilities such as the San Diego Humane Society and residential customers alike. There is a growing trend of dog training facilities, dog parks and pet sitting facilities installing fake grass and much of this is due to the ease of maintaining a sanitary environment.

The San Diego Humane Society has been serving San Diego County since 1880, providing vital services to animals and people alike. They receive no government funding and provide services based on donations, grants, and other sources of not-for-profit income. The Oceanside park is located on San Luis Road on the Humane Society campus. The park is dedicated to Petco, which made a $1-million donation to the Humane Society.
