Google’s Plans To Stay Competitive

Google is pushing Android Jelly Bean update but not for all devices. The search engine company unveiled its new OS in recently held I/O developers’ conference. It will have an improved voice-dictation feature. It is expected that the voice feature will offer direct answers like Siri. The voice-dictation will also work offline. Another feature is Google Now that will use data, like time, location and personal history for offering alternative commuting routes or close-by restaurants.
But what about fragmentation whose blame directly goes to Android? So this time, Google wants to innovate in hardware and has introduced the Nexus 7. This is a tablet manufactured by Asus for offering better experience than Kindle Fire, but the price range will be similar.
The company also has capacity to change the market statistics if it launches Google Glass. The product is still in development phase, but it has already drawn buzz. Glass may be a milestone in the coming months. Maybe the technology will entirely change the mobile world of today.
It is no more a surprise that Android operating system powers more phones ...
... than iOS. It further attracts more and more mobile application developers. But let us come to fragmentation once gain. According to studies, not more than 11 percent phones have been updated to latest versions of the software. The manufacturers of these Android devices either do not release updates or delay for several months.
In this way, many users are not able to see the benefits of newer Android versions. The company is responsively releasing newer Android versions; sometimes within a period of less than one year. So, it should also ensure whether users are able to access those latest operating systems or not.
But it does not pull search engine giant to go towards all kinds of new directions. Many believe that new steps are promising but their success is not guaranteed.
The initiation for manufacturing own tablet Nexus 7 will fuel the market of low-end devices. The company hopes to attract those users who do not want to purchase a three times expensive device, like iPad. Google will also launch Nexus Q. It allows user to play movies, TV shows and YouTube together. It is a spherical device that accesses to Google Play for digital contents, but it does not run Android apps. As far as Glass is concerned, many believe that it is the masterstroke of the company that it will play in coming future.
The search engine company is very active this year. Its operating system has made the world of mobile OS upside down. Should be expect more innovations?
