Bangalore Packages - Dig The Garden City
Earlier Bangalore in Karnataka was known as the 'City of Gardens' since it has large number of gardens. Previously when Bangalore was a peaceful city, it was referred to as 'Pensioner's Paradise'. Bangalore, situated in the Deccan Plateau, is now a major centre of information technology and it is known as the 'Silicon Valley of India'.
The name Bengaluru was bequeathed to the place by the Hoysala king Vira Ballala. According to legends, the king lost his way during his hunting in the forest. An old woman served him boiled beans and the happy king named the place Benda Kaalu Uru (The town of Boiled Beans). Bengaluru is its adaption. The Britishers anglicized the name to Bangalore. The city has now got its original name Bengaluru.
Bangalore is a paradise for various categories of visitors. It has number of palaces, gardens, lakes, palatial buildings, temples, churches and IT institutions. Among the palaces, Bengaluru Palace is the residence of the Maharajas of Mysore. Tipu Sultan Palace was the summer resort of Tipu Sultan.

The ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple is very popular among temples. This temple is built on a hillock. Maruthi Mandir (a Hanuman Temple) is located near ISKCON temple. Other prominent temples are Gavi Gangadeshwara Cave Temple, Venkataramana Swamy Temple, Banaswadi Hanuman Temple, Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple, DakshinaMukhy Nandeeshwara Temple and Meenakshi Sundaram Temple.
Holy Trinity Church, located at Trinity circle, is a major landmark in Bangalore. It was built in 1851. The church can accommodate 700 people. St. Mary's Basilica, the oldest church in Bangalore, has been elevated to the status of a minor basilica.
Bangalore has number of lakes and parks. Among the lakes are Ulsoor Lake and Sanky Tank. Boating facility is available in Ulsoor Lake. Lalbagh Botanical Garden has a lake in it. Cubbon Park is a major attraction for visitors. Seshadari Iyer Memorial building is situated in this Park. Built of red sand stone, it houses a public library and the Bengaluru High Court.
Bangalore's climate differentiates it from many other cities and tourist destinations. It enjoys a relatively pleasant climate all round the year. Bangalore is well connected by air, rail and road. Bangalore has large number five-star, budget and luxury hotels to suit the needs of people.
Tour operators offer Bangalore packages to tourists for stay and visit to various places in the city and nearby places.
