Are you embarrassed to discuss the topic about hemorrhoids in public? What is this condition anyway about and how does it develop?

Hemorrhoids are either internal or external, or you may suffer from both, primarily as a result of excessive pressure like in straining when you’re constipated that causes the pelvic and anal veins to swell and protrude. The blood in the anal tissues regulates the bowel elimination, the great force exerted when straining and poor blood flow results to enlarged veins. This anal disorder can cause itching, burning, bleeding which is really a big frustration on your part.

Two types of hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids – the enlarged vein is above the internal sphincter, located inside the rectum. They start as small bulging veins and painless but when the condition progresses because of prolonged straining in bowel elimination; it may keep on swelling and protrude out of the anus which is really painful.

External hemorrhoids – painful due to severe inflammation and appears on the skin surface of the anus, a visible lump that gets itchy or may bleed when irritated.

These ...
... two will cause torment physically and will mentally disturb you, but the discomfort can be lessened by self-remedies and your throbbing lump will feel relief.

Try out these basic self-care tips:

•Avoid straining. Add more fiber in your diet with fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes to allow easy passage of stools to prevent constipation which is the major cause of hemorrhoids.

•Drink more water. Increasing your water intake keeps the digestion moving thus promoting better elimination of soft stools.

•Don’t delay. When you sense the need to defecate, go ahead and fulfill nature’s call. Delaying will lead to dry and hard stools. Follow the normal pattern of your bowel movement, habitually done early in the morning. When you’re through, don’t force yourself to produce more, as straining causes pressure on your anal veins.

•Plunge in warm sitz bath. Sit in warm water with two tablespoons of salt, making sure that your bottom is submerged in the water; this will alleviate your pain and itchiness. It’s best done after your bowel movement, done at least twice daily for 10-15 minutes.

•Apply cold compress to the anal area to soothe down swelling. This constricts the dilated veins and numbs the pain.

•Maintain good hygiene. Wipe with soft towel after bathing or use moist wipes after defecating, don’t rub it with dry toilet paper.

The unbearable symptoms will be lessened through knowing the ways in treating your hemorrhoids at home. If the bleeding or pain worsens, seek professional help to prevent further complications.
