Renault India after launching the much awaited Renault Duster SUV in India is all set to launch yet another new product in the Indian car market. This time, the company is going to launch a re-skinned version of Nissan’s best selling sedan Nissan Sunny, christened Renault Scala in India. This C segment sedan Renault Scala sedan will see the light of the day before the festival of lights, Diwali this year. This would be the second sedan from the French car maker, Renault India in India, however this would not be the placed in the luxury segment like its elder French beauty, Renault Fluence.
This would complete the five product launches that the company had promised to launch in the Indian car market. This itself is a great task to launch five cars in a row and that at a short time span of 18 months for a car maker who does not belong to the Indian soil. This is the second innings of the French car maker in the Indian car market and the company made excess research before entering the Indian market on the products which it was going to launch in India. Renault Scala ...
... as we all know will be based on the Nissan Sunny sedan therefore; it is going share ample things from its cousin Nissan Sunny. Renault Scala will be Sunny with minor changes in the skin of Renault.
Another car from Renault’s stables, Renault Pulse is a rebadged version of Nissan Micra hatchback, the former has striking similarity with the latter. In fact the rear of the Pulse hatchback is precisely the same as Nissan Micra. This re-badge engineering which the French car maker has been doing in the Indian car market involves reworking on the product which is already on sale in the market and selling it under the name of Renault. Basic changes are made to the exteriors as well as the interiors of the vehicle; features are also shuffled with few addition and exclusion.
Since the company does not have to develop the vehicle from scratch therefore, Renault does not have to do a lot of investment in development of these cars, Pulse and Scala. Renault-Nissan share the same facility where their cars are manufactured, the rebadged engineering has proven to be fruitful for the French car maker. This would be the second low priced mass product from Renault after Duster SUV which the company has launched recently in the Indian car market. The other three products of the company are positioned as the premium cars in their respective segment.
The 2012 Renault Scala sedan, the vehicle will not only get new styling and Renault’s badge, but the sedan will also get the soul of the Sunny. The petrol and diesel trims will be the same and will be equipped with the same set of features too. On the price front, Renault Scala price in India is expected to be placed higher than Nissan Sunny. The petrol engine will be packed with a 1.5 litre HR15DE petrol machine which can build a maximum power of 100 Bhp and a peak torque of 145 Nm. On the other hand the 1.5 litre K9K turbo diesel engine which is capable of belting out a maximum power figure of 85 bhp and high torque figure of 200 Nm. These engine options are expected to be offered in the upcoming new sedan in India from the stables of Renault, Scala. Among the safety features, ABS, EBD and airbags will be incorporated in the high end variants of Renault Scala.
Similar to Nissan Sunny, Renault Scala will also come with roomier interiors especially at the rear end of the sedan which will also boast of rear AC.
Nissan Sunny is one of the most preferable option for taxi segment, just like its cousin Sunny, Scala could also turn out to be a good option for taxi segment. Renault working towards to expand its dealership network close to 100 by the end of the year. These dealerships will be scattered across the nation which should not be a problem for people living in big cities to look out for the service stations. Lack of service stations of Renault in smaller cities which is a hindrance for Renault cars in India. Plan for the launch of Renault Scala in India was revealed few months ago, however what the French car maker has in mind for the Indian car market we will have to wait and watch.

Go to the Renault Scala Reviews section on carkhabri.com and mention what you expect from the car. You can also watch the latest and exclusive Renault Scala Pictures available on the Renault Scala photo gallery.
