It seems quite adventurous to climb mountains and then click pictures of the scenery, with your friends. But the real misery starts unfolding, when you reach home and realize that the pictures you had clicked are nothing what you had imagined! Some pictures are just out of focus, while others are tilted and have no sense. The sharp light is just missing when your friend was hanging from the cliff or where is the sense of space and sky that bordered the cliff?

To be a good photographer you need to shoot every day. Capturing action and other important moments can only be enhanced with practice. Leave your ego aside and believe that some photos would be great and most of them would not be that great.

Focus on light as without light, pictures can be nothing. When you play with light, you will realize its qualities like, brightness, colors and other nuances. Climbing pictures can only be perfected if you climb a lot and learn the rock climbing skills. As that will be of great help when later you would have to climb ropes and get hold of difficult to reach camera positions and camera angles. You need to be quite adept at climbing, rappelling, rigging ropes, building anchors and ascending ropes.

Be a picture literate and flip through lots of pictures in various books and magazines. Pay keen attention at the photographic techniques and look at the content and the composition. Unless and until you look at the pictures you will not learn. Observe the images of the famous photographers and admire nature at its best. Study the lighting, subject, compositions and a sense of place in all the pictures. Take the pictures and print them with a good quality printer or laser printers.

Study the skills of photography, take classes and learn about the craft. If taking a class is not possible then buy a photography book and learn about the basic photographic techniques. Once you become a pro you can click pictures from the top of the cliff and print them on a good quality printer or laser printers and share it with your friends and wait for the feedback and comments!
