It's absolutely no surprise that everyone is experiencing extremely rough times right now in America; people can't go out as often as they once did, people think twice before purchasing an article of clothing that costs anything more than half a week's worth of gas, and getting to and from work is becoming more and more expensive by the day. Any and every aspect of life is affected in a very harsh way when the economy falls to the position that it's in currently. The group of people that makes up the majority of America, the middle class, is working three times as hard as they ever did and spending more time at work then they ever have. At the end of the day, though, it still isn't certain if all the work put in will be enough to survive. The reason behind the large number of recent foreclosure is because the economic standpoint, just two years ago, allowed people to take on payments that they usually wouldn't take on because of job security, which now is no longer a reality, and because down payments weren't necessary along with interest rates being reasonably low. The housing market is an extremely large contributor to the good or bad standing of the American economy, therefore, when the housing market experiences the crisis that it has been it results in a near economic meltdown. The fear of not having a job tomorrow makes a person think twice before spending money on something today, not to mention the gas prices that discourage a typical family from going on a nice weekend trip. Financial fear that is backed up by the unstable job security that many Americans are experiencing all leads to situations that affect every aspect of life for everyone. Home sellers are slowly turning away from real estate agents and attempting to sell their properties for sale by owner simply because of the financial burden they make experience; not only may a seller not be able to sell their home for anywhere near what they bought it for, but on top of that a commission will have to be paid to the sellers agent. Preventative measures can and should be taken by individuals to avoid being in default on their mortgage payments, but once again this is a situation that is easier said than done. Survival is a priority for all and combined with a little touch of luxury isn't asking for much, but because of all the busy lives that so many people lead on a daily basis it is very easy to forget that tomorrow may turn out to be different than expected, that tomorrow may become a very serious financial setback. Thinking ahead is extremely important, living by the thought that tomorrow you may not have a job will motivate a person a lot more to spend a little less money, save a lot more money, and not allow for luxuries and tempting situations to get the best of you.
