Online streaming is extremely popular outside of the United States and it is only growing more so, thanks to the internet and an internet-savvy generation who want access to the same things that people in the United States get access to, including movies and television shows. However, there are some shows that only have a dubbed soundtrack, and there is simply no option to listen to it in its original English form. This is particularly distressing for those who either only understand English or who want to view the movie as it was originally meant to be seen and heard. In addition, translations may not always be accurate, such that they often detract from the movie or show in some way, thus reducing the enjoyment that a viewer might get from it.

At the end of the day, even those people who have access to Netflix Mexico or Netflix Brasil would prefer having access to Netflix US, and the only way to gain access to that version of Netflix is either to be in the United States itself, or to disguise your online location such that the Netflix servers think that you are in the United States. This solution is one that many people in Latin America have turned to, even in those places that now have their own version of Netflix.
