All About Hi-tech City Bengaluru
Bangalore, now known as Bengaluru is the capital city of the state of Karnataka and the official language of the state is Kannada. The state is located on the south western boundary of India. This city is known as the City of Gardens due to its beautiful gardens. It is the fifth most populated city in the country and is a hub for Information Technology and related services. This city has been awarded a rank of ‘Beta World City’.
Historical Background
According to historians Bangalore city is around 1000 years old and they have found proofs too. It is believed that the city was built by Kempe Gowda, a King. After passing in many hand the city of Bangalore went in the hands of Tipu Sultan, who was killed by the British in a fierce battle. The British captured the city. During the rule of British, there were many changes incorporated in the city, but one thing is special about Bangalore and that is, the city was the first city to receive electric power in India and the power was generated in the Sivanasamudra.

Many lakes were built by the king in 16th century to meet the requirements of the city. However, at present this is also inadequate and a new water works has been commissioned at Kaveri river to meet the present requirements.

Bangalore city is playing an important role in the economy of the whole country and it is primary destination of people working in the field of Information Technology. Apart from this there are major public sector organizations such as the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., BHEL, NAL, Indian Space Research Organizations, etc. which have established their headquarters in the city. The city is also emerging as a major Biotechnology hub in the country with about 47% companies bei
ng hosted in it. The city has an established reputation in the tourism industry and earns a lot from it.

The city is well connected with the railways, roadways and airways. There is an international airport in the city and is one of the busiest in the country. A mass transit system such as a Metro project is being constructed in the city to facilitate the transport capabilities further. The Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan is visited by thousands of tourists every year; it is the place where Tipu Sultan spent his summers. The Royal Palace of Bangalore is one of the largest structures in the state of Karnataka and the King lived here. People who are interested mainly in preserved facts can go to the Bangalore Museum. The Yediyur Lake and the Hebbal Lake are center of attraction for nature loving people. The list is endless as the whole of the city is a major tourist attraction.
