Sitting in front of a computer can be very tiring especially if you work in desk jobs. You might invite back pain, body aches, neck pain or knee pain if you do not sit in a right posture in front of a computer system. Also, you might feel tingling sensation in your hands, wrists or pain in your arms as well if the posture is not correct. So to maintain and sit in right posture is very crucial. Right posture is the one which doesn’t put any strain in your muscles and ligaments when you are sitting, standing, walking or lying down.

Here we list some of the tips to maintain right posture when sitting in front of a computer at home, school or work.

straight and Support your back: You must sit straight with your back straight and shoulders should be perfectly stable. The backrest of the chair should fit into natural curve of your lower back. This helps to reduce excess pressure on the spine and makes it easier to maintain a comfortable right posture.
Leg Posture: for comfortable leg postures, clear ...
... away the items near your leg space to allow you to move legs freely. Feet should straight on the floor or you can use foot rest to maintain a comfortable position.
Arm and Shoulder Posture: Place keyboard, mouse and trackball at the same height, these should be at your elbow level. The upper arms should fall relaxed at your sides. When typing place the keyboard in front of you and keep the mouse or trackball just near it.
Wrist and Finger posture: Keep your wrists straight while typing or while using a mouse or a trackball. Avoid bending your wrists up, down or at the sides. Use keyboard’s legs to adjust a comfortable level for your wrist position.
Use a Small Cushion: Use a small cushion or rolled towel to support your back while you are seated in a chair. To find a good position in a chair, sit at the end of the chair so that buttocks touch the ends rather than sitting in the middle of your chair. This will support your back and avoid stress as well.
Minimize Eyestrain: Place the monitor screen at an arm’s length when sitting in front of monitor. Adjust the brightness, contrast and font size to the levels that are comfortable to your eyes. Give a break to your eyes throughout the day t taking your eyes away from the screen and focussing on object at about 20 metres from your eyes and hold for few seconds. Blink your eyes often.
Take Breaks: void sitting in the same position for long. Taking breaks can help you recover from stress. Rather than ordering tea, coffee or snacks at your desk walk and get it yourself so that you get a chance to move around and break the continuity of sitting in same posture. You can also perform simple neck exercises when you think you have worked for a long stretch.
Move Often: Rather than sending emails or messages, just walk to your colleague and talk in person. This will give you a break and also give you a chance to burn some calories and stay healthy and fit.

So you should improve your sitting posture and avoid unnecessary pressure on your back. A healthy lifestyle can help you stay fit and healthy, enjoy daily activities of life and also enjoy your computing experience.
