Bangalore - Accommodation In Tourists' Paradise
Bangalore, referred to as the ideal gateway to India, has everything to satiate the appetite of travellers visiting the city. The city was earlier known as Bengaluru. According to folklore, Veer Ballala, the Hoysala King, lost his way in a forest while he is on a hunting expedition. An old woman served him boiled beans and the hungry king was happy. The king then named the place benda-kaal Uru (Town of Boiled Beans). The place later came to be known as Bengaluru. The Britishers changed it into Bangalore. ...
... Now the city has got its original name Bengaluru. Bangalore was founded by Kempegowda in 1537.
Bangalore Palace and Tipu Sultan Palace are among the major attractions in Bangalore. Natural lakes like Ulsoor, Hebbal and Hasaraghhatta in the city are the destinations of picnickers.
Bangalore has several shrines. The oldest church in Bangalore, St. Mary's Church, was elevated to the status of basilica. Both Hindus and Muslims visit Dargah Hazarat Tawakkal. Among the temples are Bull Temple, built in the 16th century, ISKCON temple and Shri Nimishamba Devi Temple.
Among the other major tourist attractions in Bangalore are Vidhan Soudha, where the Karnataka legislature is situated, Lalbaugh, Cubbon Park, Ashoka Pillar, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and Film City. Bangalore has also the prestigious Indian Institute of Science.
