Often when you opt to buy a new computing device, it is so, that you become confused about which computing device to buy. There are so many categories from which you may have to choose, that is, net book, notebook (laptop), PDA (Personal Digital Assistants) or tablets. Since computers and PCs are now typically out of the race, we will just stick with notebook, net book, tablets and PDAs. Why not count notebook and net book as one category, while tablets and PDAs in one category, because both of them have almost same functionality. So we virtually compare tablets with laptops, which is the main purpose of this article. In the upcoming paragraphs, you will read about different factors which you need to consider before buying any device. But keep in mind that doesn’t go on the device that offers you the most advantages. Always select the one which you feel you will be comfortable with. What is the aim of a device which does not do what you want it to? Anyways, refer to the factors below, and compare both the devices on the basis of it.

While on the other hand, tablets use a touch medium as the primary method for entering any information. However, with technological advancements, Bluetooth keyboards have also been designed through which you type on the keyboard, while the data is entered in tablet. Here, apparently it may seem a tie between both the devices. But this is not it actually. A Bluetooth keyboard can be kept and used from anywhere wirelessly, whereas a laptop does not have the same feature. In other words, tablet is the winner of this category.
The other most important factor is the battery running time of the devices. A laptop is big, has a large screen, more features and more associated devices, so the battery is consumed very quickly, and an average laptop has a running time of up to 5 hours (though some laptop work as much as 8 hours on a single charge, but that’s an exceptional case.), but in the case of a tablet, it is small, has less components, and its battery could last around 9 hours on a single go. Here too, the tablet takes it all.
Software is perhaps another major aspect. While laptops can run any type of Operating systems and software, tablets are not capable of doing so. Although technologies are being tested to run all software in a tablet, it still lags behind and is incapable for professional use. Also, a laptop may have as much as 500 GB of storage capacity, while a tablet’s capacity goes hardly up to 64 GB. Cost is not a big issue, because both the devices have almost the same cost. Although tablet is exceptionally good in two categories, the main places are still occupied by the laptop. It will take some years before tablets are brought into professional use. However, if you are buying a computing device solely for entertainment, nothing can outrun a tablet.
