When you are looking for a diet that is kind of like a vegetarian diet, but not really, then you are going to want to look into the Pritikin Principle. This is a diet that is not really vegetarian, but it is, however, based largely on eating vegetables, grains and, of course, fruit. When you are on this diet, you are going to lose a lot of weight, because fat only accounts for about 10% of your diet when you are on this diet. People have learned a lot from the Pritikin Principle on, not only how to eat right, but how to exercise more, and how that can help reduces stress on the body. This is a diet that is not just trying to help you lose weight, but it is working on your overall well being. It is going to help you try and lower your cholesterol level, and help diabetics normalize their blood sugar without ever having to take insulin again. For example, a pound of broccoli has only 130 calories for a whole pound! A pound of cookies can have over 2,000. So as you would guess, broccoli is good, and cookies are bad.

So what kind of foods will you be eating on this Pritikin Principle? Mostly, as stated before, you are going to be eating foods that have fewer calories per pound. In fact, in this book they will cover everything from snacks to sausages. The best way to lose the weight and to keep it off is to find out what helps you put on the extra pounds to start with.
