Obagi skin care products have been lifesavers for many who thought that nothing could help their problem skin. For many women, years were spent trying just about everything on the market before they finally arrived at the solution. Maybe women are still struggling with their skin, and feel as if the face they are putting foward is something to hide, rather than something to stand proudly behind. Prescription facial skin care products are not always the answer, however. Many times, it is a lot more simple. A good face skin care routine is one that is very gentle and nurturing to the face- something that many women, desperate to see the results they want to, forget about.

If you want to know the true basics of skin care, don't look to doctors, look instead at history. For example, we can learn a lot about skin care by looking at the substances used by the Ancient Egyptians. One good reason to believe in the value of what they know about skin care is that for the most part, we use the very same bases for a lot of our current cleansers, lotions and masks. The main moisturizer used by Ancient Egyptians of all class ...
... levels was body oil- a pure and very simple way to keep skin moisturized and healthy. Aloe Vera, henna, and kohl to darken the eyes were also very popular parts of the beauty regimen at the time. Let's see, moisturizing oils, aloe vera for healing, henna as hair dye and skin decoration, and eyeliner. Sound familiar?

When it comes to basic face skin care, there are a few things you can do to make sure that you skin stays healthy and happy:

* Be gentle: wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Avoid using harsh soaps and always rub in gentle circles that move upwards and out from the center of your face.
* Wear sunscreen on a daily basis, regardless of how little sun exposure you anticipate getting.
* Only exfoliate in the evenings; and alternate between physical and chemical exfoliation. Again, remember to be gentle- an exfoliant should not irritate your skin or leave it feeling raw.
* If you have blemish-prone skin or oily skin, don't skip out on the moisturizer, simply find an oil-free lotion that leaves your skin feeling soft, but not greasy.
* Avoid picking at your skin. If you have blemishes that seem ready to express, put gentle outward pressure on your skin away from the blemish- this will cause the blemish to express any infected material that it has. If nothing happens, leave it alone. Avoid squeezing the blemish- this can push the bacteria deeper into your skin, worsing the appearance and infection level and potentially causing scarring.

If you can't find a face skin care routine that works for you, it might be that you have some other issues at play, such as a hormonal imbalance or a food allergy. In such cases, consulting with a dermatologist is usually a good step in the right direction. Skin should be enjoyed and appreciated. It's not going anywhere, either, so isn't it about time you started loving yours?
