Torah portions are something that date all the way back to the days of the apostles. A Torah portion, or parsha, which is the Hebrew word for portion, is a weekly reading that is taken from the Torah. It’s an ancient practice that goes back thousands of years. Those who are a part of the Jewish community often study a portion of the Torah every Sabbath. The Torah is read in synagogues on the Sabbath, and also on Mondays and Thursdays.

Torah portions serve a variety of teaching purposes, but the most important thing that they do is this: they teach those who are not familiar with the five books of Moses about the five books of Moses.

These Torah portions were created long ago with the express purpose of keeping God and His Ten Commandments in the minds of the Hebrews by encouraging them to have a regular course of Torah study. This faithful study would make sure that the presence of God was always alive inside them, and that they felt Him each and every day they lived.

Encouraging regular Torah study also ensured that the Hebrew people would never again go back to worshipping false idols instead of the ...
... Lord. So these Torah portions serve as a memo from God, so to speak, about why he wants his children to walk the right path in life from day one.

Life is about love and love is about life. God loved and still loves the Israelis, which are his chosen people. He wants them to know and understand his Word, and to follow that Word for life. Being good and just is God’s way of life.

So, a Torah portion can be defined as words straight from God’s heart. They are special beyond special and deliver a specific message to Jewish people each Sabbath Day. A Torah portion is something that is read out loud and celebrated on the Sabbath by Jewish people in the synagogues.

The Torah is also read in synagogues on Mondays and Thursdays as well. This is in addition to the Sabbath Day. In ancient time, these two days were considered to be the market days when people that didn’t live in the city were able to come into town to hear the Word of God.

Torah portions are very important readings from the Torah itself that have their own unique and special lesson to teach.
