The Torah is revered and looked on as being the one central element for Jewish faith and practice. It is without a doubt one of the most important things that the Jewish people cherish. They place an extremely high value on it for themselves as the children of Israel. Both Jewish theology and Jewish history come straight from the Torah.

Torah reading is also a tradition and is the reading of God’s Word. However, one of the most important things that makes the Torah very special is that it is about identity; it is the main thing that people use to identify as Jewish.

Why is Torah reading important and essential? It is one of the expected ways to show what it means to be Jewish, and to show pride in a heritage that dates back for thousands of years to ancient times. The Torah has unique vision and this vision is shared from the reading of its many wonderful passages for all to appreciate and get to know.

Reading the Torah is a practice that brings oneness along with it; oneness with ourselves, with family and friends, but most importantly, it is about oneness with God and the universe around us.

Torah ...
... reading is something that allows those of Jewish faith to be able to get a better understanding overall about the roots of their faith and its existence and place in the world. The Torah permits a person to be able to study their own relationship with God and find ways to keep that relationship alive and very strong.

The Torah is also known as the Law of Moses and it is a set of defined instructions given by God to man to follow in his life. The Torah was created for man so that he would be able to live a good and righteous life according to the definition of righteousness that comes from God.

Reading the Torah is crucial to being able to maintain the way of life that God demands His people adhere to. The Torah lays down the very foundation for the Bible and is used as a guide to understanding, in detail, what the Scriptures are all about.

The Torah is more than just about Israel and being Jewish. It is the proper guide coming straight from God on how to live a life that is sin-free and filled with loving God, and receiving God’s love in return.
