The Indian prohibited the Commission because it does not include any Indian in its membership, seeing this Lala Lajpat Rai led a non-violent protest against commission in a silent march, but the police-force responded with violence. The main-in charge of police, James A. Scott ordered the police to do lathi-charge on the protesters and personally beaten Lajpat Rai, who was critically injured in his head. Last Words by Bhagat Singh
The aim of life is no more to control the mind, but to develop it harmoniously; is not to achieve any salvation here after, but to make the best use of it here below; and not to realize truth, beauty and good only in contemplation, but also in the actual experience of daily life; social progress depends not upon the ennoblement of the few but on the enrichment of democracy; universal brotherhood can be achieved only when there is an equality of opportunity, opportunity for social, political and individual life — Bhagat Singh's jail diar
