The Science Of Beauty In The Bath - Using Bath Oils
Unlike perfumes, body and bath products have until fairly recent years always been considered an 'indulgence' - a bit of a luxury. However, things have now changed and most women tend to use them on a regular basis.
If you live in a 'hard-water' area, the use of bath salts is essential in order to stop the skin from drying out. Naturally, there is the added bonus that such an addition makes the water smell nicer. Bath salts however, do not make aches and pains disappear; any soothing effect is due to the warmth of the water, and its depth. Foam and bubble baths serve the same purpose, with the bubbles as an 'extra' to make you feel cosseted and pampered like a film star.
You should appreciate the fact that foam and bubble baths do not just 'float-out' the dirt so that you can just lie back and get clean without lifting a finger. There is no substitute for rubbing away the dirt with soap or some other cleanser and your hands and a flannel. Look upon bath salts and foam baths as pleasant extras; do not spurn the psychological effect, but do not expect wonders.
Bath oils are a boon to any woman and anyone who ...
... suffers from dry skin should utilize them because they tend to protect you from the drying effects of the water. They are most effective when added to the bath, or in some cases rubbed into the body before you get into it, though more usually when you have dried off. However, they can be too oily for anyone with greasy and delicate skin.
Body oils do not have to be expensive. If you are using the oil for the sake of your skin and not for the fragrance, then any vegetable oil will do.
For Example:
* Olive oil * Peanut oil * Maize oil * Pure vegetable oil
However, you should avoid the use of mineral oils such as baby oil as these are not so easily absorbed and can actually be damaging and drying to the skin.
If you require a really effective reviver to add to the bath, you should utilize products that contain the pure essences known for their soothing properties:
For Example:
* Pine * Horse chestnut * Mint
