There are four main types of child support; the first one is IV- D. In this case, parents get aid from their local child support enforcement agency (CSEA). The CSEA assists the parent in locating the missing parent and help in filing the child maintenance. The second type of child support is IV-A, in this case, parent is likely to receive financial aid from the government. This type of cases is directly sent to the CSEA with a purpose to receive the compensation. The third type is recognized as IV- E, these are the cases in which the children are kept in a home or into the protection of the relative. The CSEA files the child maintenance petition against both the parents. The fourth type of child support is NON IV-D. In this type, parents agree for the child maintenance and the non custodial parent falls behind and pay for the arrears. If the custodial parent uses their local CSEA then the case becomes an IV-D case.
