CHARDHAM YATRA
India, a land of festival, culture and religion. People of various religion lives here like brothers. Majority of people in India are followers of Hindu religion. ... origin of Char Dham to the seer. Badrinath is Hindu’s holy town in Chamoli district in the state of Uttrakhand. Badrinath temple is the main attraction of this town and is of great religious values for the follower of sanatan dharma. According to legend, Adi Shankara discovered a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alknanda river. He originally establish it in a cave near the Tapt Kund hot springs. But in the sixteenth century, the King of Garhwal moved the statue to the present temple. This temple is approximately 15 meters tall with a small dome on top.
Kedarnath also situated in Uttrakhand and is integral part of chardham yatra. It is nagar panchayat of Rudrapur district. It is most remote in chardham and is located in Himalayas, above 3584m above sea level and is near river Mandakini. It is surrounded by snow covered peak all around. Kedarnath is named after king Kedar of Satya yug. Her daughter named Vrinda believed to be the partial incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, did penance for 60000 years. In her honour the land is named as Vrindavan.Gangotri is one of the sites of chardham and it is also situated in Uttrakhand state. It is nagar panchayat of Uttarkashi district. It is situated on the bank of river Bhagirathi. It is about 3,100 meters above sea level and is on Himalayan range. Gangotri is seat of goddess Ganga and is origin of river of Ganges. Yamunotri is another site of chardham which is also situated in Uttrakhand. It is at an altitude of 3,293 of Garhwal Himalayas and is situated approximately 19 miles of Uttrakashi. It is source of river Yamuna. Yamunotri temple is on the western region of Garhwal Himalayas.
