While this awesome dance form originated in Cuba, it has now garnered enough popularity to be considered one of the most favorite dance forms of people all around the globe. All these artists created a style that is considered the archetype of the genre. It is this archetype that is used as the defining base by newer artists and bands. The most famous albums of this form are Siembra (1978, 2006) and La Voz (1999). Salsa romantic is, however, the product of 80s and 90s era and follows a sentimental ballad approach to the Afro-Cuban beats. The lyrics also focus on passionate romatic themes rather than socio-political issues. Reputed artists of this form include Eddie Santiago, Frankie Ruiz, Lalo Rodriguez and Luis Enrique. Salsa dura, on the other hand, means hard salsa. It is in a way return to the classica form and has pulsing rhythm, long vamps calld 'montuno', etc. The most noted of salsa dura are Grupo Niche, Sonora Carruseles, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Joe Arroyo and Fruko y sus Tesos, El Gran Combo, La Excelencia, etc.
