Wayanad Hotels - Unwinding In The Lap Of Nature
Wayanad is one of the most sought after tourist destination of the South Indian state of Kerala. The chief towns of Wayanad are Kalpetta, Sulthan Bathery, Mananthavadi, Vythiri and Pulpally. Many of these towns have historic significance as well. It was in the forests of Wayanad that the Pazhassi Raja fought a guerilla war with the British. ...
... Sulthan Bathery acquired its name from the fact that it was utilized as his battery by Tipu Sultan. The ruins of a Jain temple and the Ganesh temple are worthy of a visit in this region. Tirunelli temple is also a prominent religious draw in Wayanad.
During monsoons, Wayanad experience heavy rainfall. Lakkidi, the gateway to the district, is amongst the wettest areas in the country nowadays. Other tourist attractions include Pookode Lake, Pakshipaatalam, Meenmutti, Soochippara and Kanthapara falls in the Meppadi region.
Muthanga National Park in Wayanad boasts of a luxurious flora and fauna. It provides home to monkeys, deer, elephants, sloth bears and even tigers. The deathliest snake, the King Cobra is found here in abundance. Ambalavayal Heritage Museum holds an extensive assemblage of artifacts from early years. The Kuruva Island and Edakkal caves are favorite tourist destinations in Wayanad.
