Located in the US state of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia offers a unique kind of holiday experience. Steeped in history, the city is a wonderful getaway if you want to experience a memorable holiday. There are daily flights to the city and you can get cheap tickets to Philadelphia from any corner of the United States. Visitors from Canada can get good airline tickets deals on Air Canada.

The city has an excellent public transport system, so moving around is never an issue. You also have the choice of flagging a taxi or renting a car at the airport. The best time to visit the city is in spring and autumn. Around this time the hotels offer cheaper accommodation. The city is crowded during summer causing higher hotel tariffs and thus, making it difficult to find accommodation without prior booking.

One of the major attractions in the city is the steps leading to the Philadelphia Museum. The steps became popular after the movie Rocky, with Sylvester Stallone running up the steps while training. It is quite common to see visitors copying Rocky Balboa. There is even a bronze statue of Rocky at the bottom of the steps and ...
... you can pose with it and have your photograph clicked. The museum has an entry fee, which has to be paid before you can see its displays.

The other historical sites in the city include the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The city gained its place in history after the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution was signed here. Entry to both these attractions is free and this will allow you to check out the crack on the famous Bell.

If you want to truly imbibe the culture of the city, you cannot leave without trying the famous cheese steak that the city is popular for. Make sure that you order your cheese steak sandwich with French fries and an aerated beverage, to enjoy it to the maximum. The most popular place for this unique dish is Rick’s Philly Steak. People, who have eaten here, claim that the taste cannot be replicated in any other steak house!

While you are here, a walk through Chinatown is also a must, to get a different perspective of the city’s multiculturalism. Here you can spend time eating a variety of Chinese and other Eastern dishes, including Vietnamese, Malaysian, Japanese and Thai. You can also pick some wonderful items to take home as gifts. Most of these will cost less than a dollar.
