14 Methods To Get Your Blog Found In A Sea Of Blogs

It is not hard to see why getting an audience to your new blog can be so difficult a task. The fact is that there are millions of blogs online today and that is a conservative estimate. If you have just started out or even have an existing blog that is not getting much traffic, you may be at a loss - How do others get seemingly endless streams of hungry buyers to their pages while yours sits alone in the dark twiddling thumbs? The answer is certainly not an easy one and there is no magic button to press.

Some, many in fact, will tell you 'Buy this and you will have instant visitors' or 'You will only make money with this plugin' - Save your money and your time because it is only making one person money, the one who sold it to you. In order to get noticed in this field you must gain a loyal following. To do so involves many different approaches with only one goal in mind, being recognized for your writing abilities.

1. Be creative and original - sometimes the topic is so boring that you wonder why anyone would read it? Well they read it for the information offered but nothing is written that states that we cannot make the reading more interesting! Put some creativity into even the most boring of subject matter and watch how often it’s shared. Make the title catchy. Engage the reader in the opening paragraph and make them want more.

2. Use at least 2 keywords in your title and 6+ in your summary - The reason for this is that a keyword rich sentence will simply rank higher and be found by potential readers a lot quicker. By making a solid title that doesn't sound spammy, you will instantly gain points in all search engines.

3. Use video on your landing pages whenever possible - even if you pull video from YouTube and embed the code, it will make your reader stay on the page longer and they are more likely to return (and to bookmark). If you have really unique content then it will also be shared more often. Video is also very friendly with SEO and search engines, they will help you to rank higher.

4. Fact check & Do your research - always check your facts!! If you post material without checking you can be sued, you will lose readers, and people will speak badly of your work. Take the extra few minutes to check all info and links. You don't want to do all of that work only to have it laughed at.

5. Keep up with hot topics - Find out what's hot and try to work it in to your subject matter creatively. Use the hot keywords within your article and watch your post get found faster. You will invite a whole new set of readers by crossing niches. Beware though - do not force it! If the two topics cannot be married effectively then find something else that will. The blog should not look like you are tossing it in the mix and it doesn't fit.

6. Stay away from opinionated statements - Do not claim to know everything, we can all learn something each day if we try and no one likes a know-it-all. You can certainly offer your opinion, but understand that we all have our own ideas and are entitled to. Share your views and ask for others to share theirs as well, this will encourage comments.

7. Be consistent - always keep your promises too. If you state in your blog that new entries will be added each day by 6pm for instance, don't just skip a day or get around to it, if you have loyal readers they expect you to post when you said you would. Simply keep it general and do what you say you will do.

8. Respect your reader - Use a level of language that is appropriate for your audience. If you are writing a scientific journal entry and write it on a kindergarten level, no one will respect you and you will have disrespected them as well.

9. Respect their time too - when summarizing your article or entry never claim one topic while writing another. This is a common practice in black hat SEO and will get you slapped by Google. For example stating that your blog entry is on a famous celebrity that is big in the news only to draw readers who will be led to an article on pollution - this does not translate to a happy reader and they will go back to their search engine very quickly. This method gains you nothing and you will suffer far more than is gained.

10. Use bullet points - it is easier for your readers to extract information in this way plus it is easier to fact check too.

Use RSS feeds - if you work within Wordpress blogs then the rss is already built in to most themes, just make sure your current theme supports this function and if it doesn't then you should really find another. The good news is that there are literally thousands of themes out there and most are free to use. The rss feed will allow you to showcase your articles on lots of other related blogs which exposes you to readers you normally would never know. Once your page is set up simply copy the rss link and submit to directories and sites across the net. It will take some time to set up but is time well spent.

12. Post comments to blogs you are genuinely interested in - do not spam and do not comment just to get your backlink. If you do so the owner will probably delete your comment and mark your IP address as spammy. Instead look to see how others comment and make sure that you offer even more so your post isn't lost amongst a sea of comments. Double benefit is the backlink you get too.

13. Post on forums - same as comments above - just make sure to actually read the post and comment effectively.

14. Even if you auto-blog try to maintain at least one site with original stuff - this will go a long way towards gaining credibility. Do not claim authorship for material you did not write (or at least changed drastically within your rights) because this will simply make it hard for people to believe in you when they see the same article on 10 different sites. If you use PLR that is great, but use it to create your own product and to inspire ideas - do not just simply reprint everything as your own and as is.

By following these simple guidelines you will be rewarded with higher ranks in the search engines and more loyal readers becoming a part of your site. Within just a short time this will all become second nature and you can help guide others.
