So you want to lose a few pounds and you have been told that not eating for a few days can help you achieve this and it is true you will lose weight but this is not the way to lose or control weight as any doctor will attest too. Our health is a finely balanced mechanism which relies on a number of factors especially on the foods we eat so healthy weight loss does not mean starvation which usually weakens our immune system.

Following a healthy weight loss program is all about what you eat and how much of it as if you consume more calories in a day than you use and this is done regularly, you will put on weight. The correct diet is always supported by good sleeping habits and proper physical exercises that help you burn the extra fat deposits.

Many women's periodicals which tend to promote all the latest diets which are often based around eating a particular food or food group claiming to be a method of healthy weight loss. An example of this would be the ‘healthy' diet that relies on the dieter eating nothing more that fruit boiled vegetables, salads and chicken; which in itself is not bad but does not include ...
... many other types of food that we need to stay healthy.

Of course if you were to follow such a diet for any length of time you would not want to eat chicken again as it becomes boring and then you will rebel against a healthy food. The basis of healthy weight loss and maintenance is by removing high calorie foodstuffs from our diets and maintaining regular exercise in addition to good sleep patterns.

Always remember your doctor will ask you if you are sleeping well and will ask an overweight person if they snack in the middle of the night as whilst this is common, many do not remember. Eating during the night is a sure way to put on extra pounds as if you are following a healthy weight loss diet and exercising, excess calories will be burnt off and this is a good way to eliminate stress also.

The expression ‘you are what you eat' could not be truer because if you eat a healthy diet and get regular fitful sleep, generally you will find you are more active during the day and your health will improve. Although easy to say, your mental attitude is very important for successful dieting because it is often the case that a person trying to lose weight will be very critical of themselves which does not help. Try not to keep to the same routines when you exercise and not expect your body to perform at the same level all the time as this is an unrealistic approach that will do more harm than good. Healthy weight loss require regular exercise but often overweight people try to rush this part to quickly so take it step by stem and do some regular physical activities to start with like swimming or jogging and then when your fitness level has improved, join a gym. The mistake many people make is becoming impatient; so take your time and get it right from the first.
