Tourist Places India

India is a vast country and is as diverse as vast. There is diversity in languages, cuisine, and religion and also in places of tourist interest. The rich history of the country and its glorious past is reflected in the monuments and the temples. As this land was inhabited by followers of different religions, this is reflected in the architecture of the buildings. There are a large number, probably infinite number of places to visit and enjoy. So much so it would be easier to study, explore them under different zones.
The North Zone
The Northern part of India has snow-capped peaks, fertile plains, major rivers traversing the entire area. A large number of tourist destinations are also found in the North. Some of the tourist destinations have historical importance attached to it while others have religious significance. The places of historical importance include Taj Mahal, Agra fort in Agra, Red Fort, and Qutb minar in Delhi etc. The places attracting the religious minded include Vaishno Devi temple in Kashmir, Golden Temple in Amritsar, temples in Hardwar and Rishikesh and also the Ganges River. Pilgrims also visit ...
... Chardham- Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Places like Corbett National Park, Dal Lake are hot spots for tourists. Tourism has been developed to a great extent and there is large number of hotels, resorts and several activities to keep the tourists engaged.
The East Zone.
Nature has endowed the Eastern part of the country with a lot of beauty. The snow capped peaks of Arunachal Pradesh, rivers like the mighty Brahmaputra, and dense forests are the ones that first come to the mind when thinking about east as a tourist destination. The places of religious interest include Konark temple, Jagannath temple, Kamakshya temple etc. There are important seats of Buddhist learning located in the eastern part of the country. These include Bodh Gaya. The visitors interested in the wild may visit the Sunderbans.
The West Zone
The western part of the country has had a maximum number of tourists over the years. The states of the west zone have a long coast line along the Arabian Sea. This presents a large number of sporting activities to the tourists. The beaches of Goa are particularly famous all over the world. The temples like the Dwarkadish temple, Somnath temple has attracted a large number of visitors over the years. The caves of Ajanta and Ellora with its paintings and sculptures are attractive to the art lovers. Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra is also an important tourist destination in West India.
The South Zone
The South zone is a haven for tourists. The backwaters of Kerala, its exotic beaches are the prime tourist attractions. The temples like Lord Venkateshwara at Tirupati, Velumalawada, Mallikarjun temple at Srisailam, Meenakshi temple, Madurai have attracted the religious minded over several years. These temples epitomize architectural brilliance attained in those years. People who want to unwind after a chaotic and hectic city life find a visit to the secluded places soothing. They flock the Lakshadweep and the Andaman’s.
Tourism has been encouraged by the government of India travel. The plans for its further expansion are underway and efforts are being made to make the stay of tourists from foreign land and from within the country pleasant and comfortable.
