A few years ago, the way people used to watch TV was totally different. Those days, having a TV connection at home itself was a luxury for many. However, they had to rely on the antennas then. The antennas received the signals from the satellite and made it possible for the viewers to watch the TV programs. That was how they got to watch at least a few news channels even if not too many. However, the concept of broadcasting signals through antennas had limitations. They were susceptible to frequent disturbances by a number of factors. A bad weather or a heavy rain would result in poor signals and thus loss of TV picture.

This problem was later overcome with an innovative step taken by a few service providers then. They gave coaxial cable connections to customers by charging them an additional fee. This is was a breakthrough then. Popularly called as the cable TV service it gave the people what they wanted. The quality of the picture was supreme to the ones that were generated by the antenna technology. Consumers were able to enjoy their favorite shows undisturbed by weather and other external factors. Unlike today, those ...
... days, people never complained of long cable wires running through their living rooms.

Modern cable TV offers oodles of benefits when compared to ones that are broadcasted over analog signals. One of the key features of the cable television technology of yesteryear was that it offered better reception of signals. This made people forget the option of mounting the rabbit-ear like antennas at the roof of their homes. In case of cable TV technology, the signal gets fed directly to the tuner thus resulting in a better video and audio quality.

Cable TV is now more advanced as it is available in digital format. If you want to know how popular cable TV services are in the U.S then here is a bit of facts and figures for you. According to the National Cable and Telecommunication Association, as of June 2010, there were about 105 million cable TV subscribers in the U.S alone. Though Satellite TV is becoming popular there are still many areas where the cable TV service scores over the Satellite TV service.

Cable TV remains undisturbed by climatic factors whereas satellite TV doesn’t. The only reason why people prefer satellite TV over cable TV is because of the fact that the former offers channels in digital quality than the latter. However, this difference won’t be there for long as some of the innovative cable service providers have already started taking steps to produce channels in supreme digital quality.

Advantages of Cable TV
Cable TV provides as many channels provided by satellite TV, most of them in digital quality. When you have a TV model like HDTV or Plasma you will get the best of cable TV experience at home. When it comes to the installation part, it is easier to fix the coaxial cable wires at home compared to the satellite dish. The cost of maintenance is also much lesser for the cable wires than the satellite dish equipments.

Thus one can say that cable TV outsmarted the antenna technology and gained reputation as the best TV service by people all over the world. It’s reputation stayed on for so many years and still stays on. Though many people are migrating to the satellite TV service it will not completely put an end to the cable TV service. There are so many people migrating from satellite TV service to the cable TV service after having a tough time with the former. This just goes to show that cable TV service is here to stay!
