Forming A Strong Partnership
When people think marketing they seem to gravitate towards the idea of getting new customers. This is certainly one reason to spend money on commercial printing to get brochures, postcards, or who knows what else sent out, but it isn't going to be the only thing your marketing should consist of.
If you've been around for any length of time and you've managed to be successful, then you already have a large pool of people who have been diligently giving you business and keeping you going. So how often are you really paying attention to them?
Many companies upon achieving success have a habit of forgetting about their true customers base in an effort to expand it. They focus all of their attention on the people who aren't giving them business at the expense of the ones who are.
A fully formed marketing push is going to involve more than just funneling money into commercial printing aimed at new customers, and also deal with rewarding the people who have been with you over the years.
Set up a direct mailing campaign to send them postcards with special ...
... offers and free gifts. You could easily set up a mailing list for your loyal customers, where you send them some kind of special discount each month that only those on the list can take advantage of.
Maybe once a year you can have a catalog printed up and sent out only to those who you know have been with you for a long time, and put in it a lot of good deals and unique products.
People want to feel appreciated by a company, especially if they know that they are some of the people who got that company going in the first place. By rewarding them you're able to achieve two very important and distinctive marketing goals.
First, you're ensuring that your loyal customers remain that way. They'll keep coming in for years to come and remain a foundation for your business.
Secondly, and very importantly, it helps you encourage other people to become loyal customers. If you're frequenting a place that gives you great deals for being loyal, what are you going to do? I sure know what I would do: tell my friends about it.
Word will spread and you'll create a great image for your company. People will find out that you honor those who stick with you, and that betters your chances of finding more people who are increasingly loyal to you, something all companies want.
Loyal customers don't just appear out of thin air. If you want people to be loyal to you then you need to be loyal to them. This is just as much a part of marketing as any advertisement you send out.
