Agra - The Charming City

Agra widely renowned for its grand monument dedicated to love; the Taj Mahal is a beautiful and charming holiday destination of India. The city enjoys the patronage of tourists from all quarters of the world. The city although having lost much of its charm and beauty still manages to look dreamy mesmerizing tourists with its chaos, vibrancy, enigma and much more. There is a lot to see and observe in Agra from its rich architecture, grand monuments, heritage, traditions and customs, which together give the city a vibrant kaleidoscope appearance.
Parts of Agra still remind tourists of the rich heritage and past of the city when it was at its glorious best, flourishing under the Mughal rule as the capital of Hindus. Sitting by the banks of River Yamuna, Agra shows shades of its beauty on a full moon lit night. The rich traditional aspect of the city can be seen jostling in vain with the overt commercialization and modernization to make its presence felt. Nevertheless, the city with all its charms and sordidness still manages to catch the fancy of people across all ages, thronging to the region in large numbers.

Agra is home to several interesting tourist attractions from the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to other heritage sites like the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. Other prominent tourist attractions of Agra include Swami Bagh, Ram Bagh, Mehtab Bagh, balkeshwar Temple, Kailash Temple, Sikandra, Itmad - Ud - Daulah's Tomb, Jama Masjid, Chini Ka Roza and others. A visit to the local market is also a must which is renowned for its leather goods, perfumes, bangles and other local handicrafts. A must do in Agra is to gorge on the delicious petha's, Indian sweet and the mouth watering chats.
Although Agra's weather and other such superficial conditions does not act as a deterrent to stop tourists from visiting the city; the best time however, to visit the city is during the Taj Mahotsav, when the entire city gets dressed with flowers, fresh coat of paints, etc.
There are ample numbers of hotels and resorts in Agra offering a plethora of accommodation options to tourists to choose from. The various accommodation options are present across all budget groups ranging from the luxury hotels and resorts to the budget and economy hotels. Agra home to its very own domestic airport and several major and small railway stations is well connected to various parts of the country.
