A cube is a considered a mini MPV acronym for a multi purpose vehicle. The Nissan cube is a product of the Japanese car marker Nissan as suggested by the name. It was introduced in the market in 1998 with it main market being in Japan and slowly expanding. The production of the cube is said to have taken after the art of cubism pioneered by Palo Picasso, this because of its upright nature and curves that literally match it to a cube. Since 1998 the Nissan cube has seen three generations of productions and this is one of the reasons that it has continued to cross borders in terms of sale. The generations basically come with improvement in different features of the car.

1st generation
The first set of the car, rolled out in the late 1990’s. It was designed to operate under a 1.3 liter engine a CVT gearbox. In this generation the four wheel drive was optional. The car was considerably limited in terms of space and did not offer much on cargo space. The interior in terms of features and accessories was not up to date but that is considered under the era it was made.

2nd generation
This production was ...
... considered to be produced within the year 2002 and 2008. Among the improvements was a more spacious interior design. The engine was also upgraded to a 1.4 L giving it a boost in performance. It had a 4wd option which powered the rear wheels therefore reducing drag. Within the year there was production of a HR series which came with a more powerful engine of 1.5 L. depending on the series of the second generation, the different models had different options according to functionality upgrade. The range of options were sunroofs, smart key systems, satellite navigation and one got 14 or 15 inch wheels depending on the model. In this 2008 window, Nissan decided to go environment friendly by producing a cube known as Denki which is Japanese for electric. The cube was powered by a lithium battery .

3rd generation
This was between the years 2009 up to present times. This Nissan cube generation featured well rounded exterior curves than the previous generations. The curves are significantly recognized in the rear window which wraps around the right side of the cube. The windows also a have a better asymmetrical trim enhancing the look. The interior design is made with a Jacuzzi concept and can accommodate 5 sited adults with much more leg room. The rear seats are foldable to give an allowance for cargo. The performance is enhanced by a four cylinder 1.6 and 1.5 liter engines for petrol and diesel respectively. In features and accessories the audio system was really improved along with the satellite navigation, intelligent key and the range of available colours also increased.

The Nissan cube has really come along way over the years. And at this point with the continued upgrades, no car geek would feel ashamed to be seen in traffic with a cube series for its pretty functional and stylish.
