Companies cannot afford to ignore the importance of health and safety. If they do, they risk suffering serious ill-effects. As well as potentially having to cope with the human tragedy associated with accidents in the workplace, they can also fall foul of the law, and this in turn can cost them both financially and in terms of their reputations.

This means effective risk prevention measures do not have to cost employers excessive amounts of money.
