The National Center of the hurricanes of the United States declared this last Monday (on the 13th of May 2012) that the hurricane season has already started.
In general, the season starts in the June. Yet, a first tropical depression formed in the Pacific Ocean at more than 1000 km from the coast - hopefully. In the following days, this depression might turn itself in a tropical storm. This phenomenon is rather early in the year thus why the authorities brought forward this early in the season.

It is important that everyone is alert about it. Down here in Mexico, the Riviera Maya has experienced a deserved rest after the trauma of Wilma. A calm period of 6 years has been enjoyed. But we must not keep our eyes closed and think that the slack time will go on forever. We all live in a tropical area. The risk is present, authorities are aware of it, so are we.

According to Admiral Sergio Javier Lara Montellano, commandant of the 8th Naval District of the Mexican Army, 2011 saw 19 tropical storms in the Atlantic Ocean. Very few of them have reached the coasts. Such a high number has not been recorded since 1851, ...
... according to the National Service of Meteorology.

For one week now, it has been raining in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. And last night, inhabitants witness an impressive storm in the middle of the night. Everybody agrees to say that this rain arrives rather early in the year. Hurricanes may arrive consequently earlier too. Do to the global warming, hurricanes will be stronger. And as the weather and the temperatures down the Riviera Maya have not cooled down lately, the hurricane warmth source is bigger than ever, raising consequently, the risk of hurricane creation.

Many people in order to protect themselves and their house purchase plywood, polypropylene or aluminum samples, they tape them on their openings and are pretty confident about the capacity of these materials to face the hurricane strength. We can insure you that wood doesn’t stand up to any kind of hurricane, not even a level 1! Aluminum and polypropylene are a bit stronger but they will just bust if the hurricane is a category 2. (It exists 5 categories of hurricane: the level 1 is the lowest one, the level 5 is the strongest one. For instance, Wilma was a category 5). Indeed, the American and Mexican authorities have emitted a public advisory warning and advising inhabitants about the inefficacity of these materials. If you want to be protected, do it but do it well. Investing once a bit more is cheaper than investing 10 times at a cheap price for the wrong products.

The best product that the governmental authorities advice you is an anti-hurricane shutter, made with the unique purpose to face hurricanes. However, you can find many anti-hurricane systems, but you must check out the resistance of it. Many of them are not resistant enough to support a strong hurricane. Most of them may face a hurricane level 2 or 3 maximum. If a category 3, 4 or 5 arrives, your house will never be protected!! You will simply lose everything and your family may get hurt by a projectile going through the anti-hurricane shutter.

In our research on this subject, we found out one product recommended and used by the US army to protect the military materials and buildings. This product is called AstroGuard. This product can face a category 5 hurricane without any problem. Indeed, the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Clemson University, South Carolina is the only American university having the adequate scientific materials to evaluate the resistance of a product. The university published certificates certifying that AstroGuard product successfully passed all the resistance tests of the Mullen Burst Test and even the category 5 hurricane tests.

According to the American authorities, it seems that it is the safest product to face a hurricane.

You can check their website they are present in almost every country facing a hurricane risk.

Everyone deserves the best protection for one’s family.
