The resultant heat which is produced then gets distributed: usually by forced air through ductwork channels, or by water circulating through pipes, or by steam fed through pipelines. But recently, buildings are increasingly using solar powered heat sources, where the distribution system generally uses water circulation.

Commonly, the engineers in the United Kingdom and in some other parts of Europe combine the necessity of room heating with hot water heating and storage. In this case, the heated water is sealed in a system. Then it flows through a heat exchanger in a hot water tank. It heats the water from the normal water supply before that water gets in contact with hot water outlets in the house. These outlets then can be used in daily chores.
