The state of Johor located in the southern portion of Peninsular Malaysia, is one of the most developed states in Malaysia. Studded with beautiful beaches, islands, parks and numerous places of historical interest, it is a place that has to be on a Malaysian tourist's itinerary. There are several places to visit in johor and you will find shops, restaurants, monuments and historical buildings everywhere. Some of the places to visit in johor are as follows:

Kota Tinggi: This town is located around 42 kilometres north-east of Johor Bahru and is a popular tourist attraction due to the famous Kota Tinggi Waterfalls at Lombong, which are 16 kilometres north-west of the town. The waterfalls are 36 meters high and are located at the base of the Gunung Muntahak mountain. Other tourist attractions at Kota Tinggi are many beaches along the coast. Some of the popular beaches are Tanjung Balau, Desaru and Batu Layar. If you are a seafood lover, you may also like to visit Teluk Sengat, which is a popular seafood village that is located 25 km east of Kota Tinggi town.

Gunung Ledang: This is a mountain situated in the Gunung Ledang National Park located in the Ledang District, Malaysia. The mountain peak stands at 1,276 m and with a clear trail leading to the peak; it is a popular destination among amateur climbers.

If you are a nature lover, you may like to visit Sabah, which is the second largest state of Malaysia and is located in the northern portion of the Island of Borneo. The state offers an exotic and scenic experience and is a treasure house of various enticing sightseeing spots. Some of the places to visit in sabah are as follows:

Tabin Wildlife Reserve: The Tabin Wildlife Reserve is the largest wildlife reserve in Malaysia with a total land area of nearly 123,000 hectares. The place abounds in the exotic beauty of Borneo island and offers lots of adventure and nature-based activities.

Mount Kinabalu: Mount Kinabalu, at 4095 m is the tallest mountain in South-East Asia and offers some of the most adventurous trekking experiences to the climbers. Fortunately, Mount Kinabalu is one of the easiest peaks in the world to conquer and thousands of tourists flock to visit this mountain each year. The view from the mountain peak is spectacular and completely worth the effort.

Turtle Island Park: This park consists of Bakungan Kecil, Selingan and Gulisan islands and lies roughly 40 km north of Sandakan in the Sulu Sea. The park is home to the endangered green and hawksbill turtles and offers the rare opportunity to watch turtle landings. The park's headquarters are at Selingan, which is the largest of the islands.

Malaysia is a beautiful country and offers exotic experiences from Johor to Sabah. It offers numerous opportunities to engage in various activities ranging from shopping at top-notch retail outlets to indulging in various recreational activities.
