The dining cars are the epitome of Victorian elegance with wood paneling and soft lighting. Exquisite tables set with crystal glass and silver cutlery on starched table linen set the scene for passengers to enjoy taste bud titillating cuisine. Their chefs prepare a combination of local and international dishes and serve only the best South Africa wines with their delicious food. During the day the dress is smart casual but in the evenings people dress up in keeping with the atmosphere created.

Observation cars that bring up the rear of these trains have been modified to ensure comfort and panoramic views. Special permission was obtained from the rail authorities to enlarge the windows and construct observation balconies. Seating in these cars is planned to allow for comfortable viewing.

With three types of accommodation to choose from there is something for every taste and budget. The compartments are well planned and all available space has been cleverly utilized. Royal Suites have a Victorian bath in addition to a shower stall. De Luxe and Pullman suites are also en suite with shower units.

The Pullman compartments decorated in a bed-sitter style are normally a first preference for many passengers. Both the Royal and De Luxe compartments comprise a separate bedroom and lounge. Fabrics and furniture are top of the range and are the epitome of gracious living. Compartments are furnished with desk writing surfaces, commodity fridge, private safes and room service throughout the day and night.

Rovos Rail has taken luxury train Africa travel to another level. Their trains depart from their private station outside Pretoria, South Africa and return there after excursions. The station house lends itself to private company functions and weddings and if required guests can even experience a train trip into the countryside.
