Here’s A Puzzle We Don’t Quite Understand. Why So Few Voip Or Sip Recorders In General?
There are hundreds of recorders designed for standard phones. We know. We’ve been compiling a master list of telephone recording devices and it’s HUGE. There are over 300 products for recording traditional phones; that’s just what we’ve counted so far. And there are also lots of of software applications for mobile phone recording. But SIP recording just doesn’t seem that popular.
Given the fact that market researchers were claiming that SIP trunking would triple from 2010 to 2013 and SIP phones would double from 2011 to 2015, that’s just strange. Yes, it’s true that because of the characteristics of SIP, it’s easier to create a cheap or free SIP recorder. So maybe the existing manufacturers are worried about pricing and margin erosion. But that’s on par with buggy whip makers holding on because of margin pressure from the Model T. (Our apologies to those who don’t know what a Model T or a buggy whip is.)
No matter how inexpensive it is to develop SIP recorder software, there’s more to SIP recording than just the code. Depending on the business you’re in, for example, ...
... you may be subject to PCI security standards. In which case, every SIP recording needs to be encrypted, with proper encryption key management, and many other security measures. And recording is just the first step. Storing the files (which can be very large) and tagging them to a searchable database is needed if you really want to use them.
There are also all kinds of new applications coming available to make recordings more useful than they’ve ever been. Speech recognition and so-called speech analytics make it much easier to find recordings based on what people say. Speaker ID technology helps find recordings using the voice of the caller. And that’s just the beginning.
And with the declining cost of SIP recording, the market is growing. By most estimates, call recording is increasing by 10% - 15% and and one analyst claims that over 150 BILLION calls are recorded every year. So that means 15+ billion additional calls are recorded each year.
One new use for SIP recording is branch office recording. Over time, this will be driven by a new Internet standard being developed called SIPREC. But in the meantime - for folks who don’t want to wait - a new product called RecordingMagic offers a similar kind of benefit, and probably isn’t more expensive than what most professional call recording companies will charge when SIPREC is fully supported by most PBX manufacturers.
Recoding magic offers the best possible solution as sip recording at the feasible cost to all. They get you the best quality recordings through their best sip recorder. For more details reach them at http://www.recordingmagic.com
