So you plan to have your own discount perfume business, eh? Well, before you start shopping for materials, you have to know that as simple as it seems, the discount perfumery business entails a lot of research and study before you begin to make sure your business runs as smooth as it can and becomes successful in no time at all. As you do your research, it is also extremely important for you to know all the perfume terms beforehand for easier comprehension. To give you a basic guide, here are just some of the most common terms used in world of perfumery.
Absolute - the material extracted from a plant or flower using one of various solvents. It is the most concentrated form of perfumery material.
Alcohol - an important product used in making perfume. It acts as a solvent and creates coolness to soothe the skin.
Aromatherapy - essential oils are used in aromatherapy to treat emotional elicit problems, headache, stress and wide range of disorders. It's the art and science of using essential oils to heal and particularly ...

Back Notes - the third and last phase of a discount perfume's life on the skin. It contains the lasting ingredients, such as woods, resins, animal and crystalline substances. In heavy perfumes, the back note has a very strong accent that it can be smelled even at the first impression.
Base Notes - the fragrance ingredients that reveal the depth and strength of that fragrance. It usually lasts around 24 hours.
Bitter - perfume odor or fragrance impression that corresponds to bitterness in terms of taste. It is produced by a combination of roots, herbs (such as wormwood), animal notes, and others. Bitter accents are found mainly in masculine fragrance.
Body - this is the heart of the perfume or the main fragrance theme of the perfume. It describes the fragrance which is well rounded or full.
Classic - a style of fragrance structure that has about 3 to 10% floral absolute and has a stronger ingredient than modern fragrance.
Cologne - a fragrance made up of essential oils like citrus oil and diluted alcohol. The term cologne is used to describe both men and women's perfume. Men's colognes are usually more concentrated than women's colognes and is similar to the strength of toilet water (Eau de Toilette). Women's cologne is a light form of a specific fragrance with about 3% concentration of perfume compound in an alcohol water base.
Essential Oil - oil collected in the water distillate during the production and concentration of fruit juices. Essential oils are normally liquid, but in some cases may be solid, depending on temperature. They are extracted from various plant parts through pressing or steam distillation. They are natural mixtures of various chemical substances. Unlike fatty oils, they evaporate without leaving a residue.
Pulse Points - folds in the crook of people's elbows and back of knees, behind the ears, ankles, wrists, neck and cleavage where blood vessels are closest to the skin giving off heat and acting like mini fragrance scent diffusers.
