If you’re lusting after a solid oak kitchen but are also concerned about the environmental impact of buying units made from such a natural material, then you need to choose your kitchen supplier carefully. However, if you buy from us, you can also rest assured that our products are covered by a firm environmental policy and that the materials used are FSC certified – but what does this mean for you, the solid oak kitchen owner?

The FSC are the Forest Stewardship Council. Even though you may not be familiar with them, if you have a FSC certified kitchen, then everything can be traced back to source – the forest, the timber, the construction and final putting-together of your solid oak units. This not only ensures that deforestation is controlled because it will be only from renewable sources, but that you know what you’re buying and its impact on the environment – unlike some other companies specialising in kitchens.

Remember that the cheaper options such as chipboard or MDF are also part of the timber and wood manufacturing industry; it’s just that people don’t often associate it with the same kind ...
... of environmental impact as solid wood. Much of it depends on how your kitchen unit is built – for example, we use processed that mean less wastage because smaller pieces of timber can be used for smaller units, rather than be thrown away.

For that final extra piece of mind, we try to recycle at all stages of our kitchen-building process, and also our staff visit and inspect all our sites – home and abroad, to ensure that this standard is being met. So now you know that when you buy your kitchen from us, we not only have a sound environmental policy, we enforce it and are proud of it, too.
