These days, more and more applications are being made and tested under various parameters. The objective of testing those applications is to provide a better user interface and make it more functional. Every application or software has several critical components like codes, scripts and logical attributes. But, above that the most vital part or the back bone of any system or application is its database. It is stored in various forms in a application. The importance of database can be known by the fact that any application or system itself needs a concrete database management system to manage the huge amount of data.

Importance of database in software testing cannot be ignored. A database is the bucket of all the data that is visible to the end user in the form of text, images or graphics. The quality assurance of a database is must before an application or software is being made available to the users. Fetching of data from a wide data base is based on the user query. The database management system must be competent enough to fetch the data which is called by the user. Any fault in the system may lead to the breakdown ...
... of whole application.

In the database testing, the manual counting of database attributes is feasible when data is not in large quantity. But, for the data that has wide range of attributes, manual counting is something that a tester never likes to do. It could be a hectic task for anyone and also consume much time that could have been saved by automated counting. The objective of database testing is to count the feasibility of data and ensure it has everything that will add to the system’s functionality. During the count of data some adjustable methods are adopted like random search and verification of the results. This method has proved an impressive technique for database verification. While the random verification of records in database is done, it can’t be assured that the requirements are working effectively for various input values. So, one has to access the database and need to verify the values using SQL query.

Database testing gives the tester a platform to conduct the various tests underway. It helps the tester in finding the root problem of any issue. It helps in saving the QA and other bug testing time. On many occasions there is required previous test data to analyze. They also require QA fetch reports in the process of testing.

Overall, the database testing offers a harmony to the tester and open doors for detecting some hidden bugs in database. The test paper scenario applies with the minor level of test applications.

For database testing preparations, you need to be strong in your basics and must have excellent technical skills. The preparation levels either for what is testing must be very broad and deep. For more information please visit - http://www.testerplanet.com/
