7 Easy Steps For Psd To Drupal Theme Conversion
Drupal is one of the most preferred content management systems available. It is used for multiple purposes i.e. for websites, blogs, applications, directories and portals. It has worked wonders for many organizations. Drupal is used for creating dynamic websites having unique and customised features.
Drupal can be used for a building a wide range of websites such as – Corporate Websites, Individual Blogs, Social Networking Sites, Communities, and Forums. One of the best things about Drupal is that it is supported by an extensive community of developers (as it is open source), therefore, the software is updated and improved every day.
Here are the steps for PSD to Drupal Theme Conversion –
The first thing that you need to do is to open the PSD file in an image editing software. Adobe Photoshop is one of the widely used image editing software. It is considered to be one of the best for PSD Slicing.
The next thing to be done is to slice the PSD files into multiple layers. Go to the main tool bar of the software and there you will see the slice tool tab. With just a click ...
... you can start slicing the Psd files.
After this, you need to create a folder named image folder wherein you will save all the sliced images. Make sure that you place this images folder inside the same folder where theme files are saved.
The next step involves coding of the sliced images into any suitable markup such as HTML to XHTML. Once this process is done, save this page as ‘home.html’.
Now, open a new page and save it as 'style.css' in order to add CSS style sheet to the page. Add div tag type in the body tags. Now code these Div tags with identified class names such as .aincontent, .rightcontent, .topnav, .topcontent and .footerlogin inside the 'style.css'. After, this download and install the selected Drupal theme to initiate the process of converting HTML page into a fully functional Drupal theme. Store these theme files by creating a new folder.
Open this theme folder along with opening of file called page.tpl.php, place it right before the tag and save changes as a new file called page.tpl.php and copy changes to style.css within new theme directory. The body content of page.tpl.php will remain same as the HTML file but you should replace the sections of page.tpl.php with quality content.
Lastly, create a new page and name it as template.php. Rename the function Yourtheme_regions to theme name. This is it. Your job is done.
After this process is completed, you need to customize the content which can be done successfully through user friendly website interface. Converting PSD to Drupal Theme requires in-depth knowledge of Drupal. In case you are not comfortable doing so, it is advisable that you hire a dedicated Drupal Developer who can perform this task for you.
