Warning: Your Personal Trainer May Be A Fake
How to Discover if Your Personal Trainer is a Professional Fitness Trainer or just a Professional Rep-Counter
In any giving week I am sure you will come across at least a dozen or so health ads, fitness reality shows, personal training commercials and gyms. So how do you know who to trust and which place will give you the best results.
I want to be upfront with you and let you know that yes, there are many scumbag fitness pros out there that are only looking to make money off of your weight loss goals.
Actually to add fuel to the fire there are more and more professional MARKETERS that dont know anything about health and fitness other then it is the fastest growing market which to them means nothing but dollar signs (hmm, can anybody say idiots guide to fat loss, hoodia tea products and last but not least the parasite scare-tactic scam artists).
However there are many good hearted fitness professionals that do want to help you achieve your goals but many of them havent a clue as to what to do. It is really not their fault. You see most fitness ...
... certification schools are teaching information from 30 years ago that really is just inaccurate and sometimes even harmful. There are probably even a couple topics that I may be misinformed about (after all, nobody is perfect), but I'll always do my best to provide you with the most up-to-date and legitimate information I can find.
Now don't get me wrong, I am sure that you are better off with a trained professional who isnt exactly up to date with the latest fat loss formulas than you would be if you just tried to make up some program yourself.
With that being said, I want to share with you the 3 things I look for whenever I read a fitness book, newsletter or article to discover if the fitness pro is up to date and effective or out dated and in effective.
Here are 3 of the main aspects I look for to determine if a fitness pro or trainer is "in the know" or not:
1. If the bulk of their workout routines are machine based such as the leg press, glute press, seated row, seated chess press, triceps press downs, etc. You see several years ago a handful of trainers discovered that machine based movements actually are one of the slowest paths to losing fat and toning your muscles. Yes, machines do serve a purpose but that purpose is not fat loss.
Your trainer should design their workouts with full body exercises, bodyweight and free weight exercises. In general if you cant feel the burn in more than 1 or 2 muscles during any giving exercise, you are not doing the right moves or you are not using enough weight.
2. If your trainer thinks that cardio exercise is the only way one can lose body fat they are definitely not an up to date trainer.
I mean c'mon you dont even have to work out at all if you want to lose weight. You could simply cut back on calories (although I don't recommend that route, because a non-exerciser is still flabby and unhealthy even with low body fat %).
Plus, studies have shown that you can burn way more body fat with resistance training then you can with cardio.
3. The 3rd thing I look for in a knowledgeable or mislead fitness pro or health "expert" is if they promote artificial sweeteners in place of sugar. Usually they will say something like it helps you cut back on calories. Yes, that is true but it does so at the expense of depositing pure junk and toxins into your body.
Well, the truth is that even though refined sugar is horrible for us, artificial sweeteners are "mutant-foods" that are even worse for us! There are many better choices out there such as real pure honey or things like Stevia that will help you sweeten your drinks and stay healthy at the same time.
