The law has been categorized into two main sets of rules, these are the criminal law and Traffic law. Majority of court cases are based on these sets of laws which have been put in place specifically to ensure the safety of every citizen. Breaking any of the two sets of laws has been seen to result in various forms of harm to innocent civilians, ranging from physical and emotional trauma to, in severe cases, death. It is, therefore, important to have basic knowledge of these laws, not only to avoid court charges, but to ensure safety of all surrounding us.
Criminal Law refers to the set of rules that have been put down to prevent any conduct that may endanger the lives of innocent people; this may include: robbery using of assault weapons, assault of innocent civilians or murder. Any kind of offense that is clearly stated in the law, or is classified under criminal law is referred to as a crime. Any person who goes ahead to break these rules maybe arrested by the police and charged in court. They are then expected ...
... to hire a defence lawyer. This because, once one is charged with an offense, the only way to avoid a guilty verdict in court is to prove their innocence, which is the duty of the defence lawyer.
Criminal offences may include: assault charges, violent disorder, break and enter offenses, drug offences. When it comes to criminal law, the punishments are usually very severe, from paying a very hefty fine to spending a considerable amount of time behind bars.
Traffic law is set of laws, set to govern the use of roads. These laws have been set in place to ensure safety of all road users, which includes pedestrian, cyclists, motorist or any party that may be exposed to danger in the event that one breaks of any of the traffic laws. One is said to have committed a traffic offense whenever they act in a manner that is not allowed in the traffic law. Such acts may be include: drink Driving, which is driving with exceed PCA (Prescribed Concentration Alcohol); dangerous or reckless driving, driving under the influence; driving whilst suspended or disqualified. Anyone charged with any of these traffic offences is required to appear in court. Having a lawyer help you put up a defence against any of these offenses will save you from spending time in jail, or getting your driving license suspended or disqualified.
Whenever one is charged with any of the above offences, it is through knowledge of how to go about the above mentioned laws and the various offences under them, that citizens are able to avoid arrest and in turn reduce any risk of facing severe court charges. Offenders with the knowledge on basic criminal laws and traffic laws, are also able to put up a defence on their own against minor charges. This also enables them to work hand in hand with their defence lawyer in putting up case against the charges leveled against them
