No, I am not asking if they will one day make square DVDs, but their future is in spotlight as people ask how long before they will be replaced. The trouble is that DVDs give as much as they take.

They are currently the best medium for production companies and publishers to sell films and series. Their sales are easily tracked and the consumer is able to say that they physically own the product.

They even interchange some of the jokes for ones that are not as good or edgy. This is one of the reasons why the Family guy and American Dad production crews do not fight the online download pirate craze. They know that the people buying the DVDs are getting so much more, and the hardened fans know this.

One of the biggest plus sides to ripping your DVDs to your personal computer using a DVD converter for Mac, is the fact that you can make a big playlist and then just let it run. Normally when you are watching a series on DVD, the episodes are spread across the discs. If they are ripped to your personal computer then you can sit back and watch the lot run off in order, without changing the discs or going through the menu systems.

You can also edit your DVDs, and increase the play speed as you watch them too. So when the hot teenagers are giving some boring filler talk during a horror film, you can speed up their talking to get through it until the horror comes and butchers them. You can edit your films, so you can for example rip all three of the Matrix films and then edit out the first half of the second film, up until after the underground party, so that the trilogy is perfect.
