Taking Care Of Your Skin

The skin is the largest organ in the body. It is also the first thing everyone sees and can say a lot about who you are. If it's wrinkled and saggy, it says you are old. If your skin is soft and bouncy, it says you are young. If it's yellowish, you probably smoke and if it's peeling, you might spend a lot of time in the sun. Everyone wants a youthful look and the best way to do this is by taking care of your skin.
If you care for your skin, you can have beautiful skin. Washing your face while taking a shower won't be enough. As the day goes by, your skin is being attacked by UV rays every time the sun touches it, it collects dirt and free radicals in the environment, and it accumulates oil and dead skin cells that are coming off your own body. Beautiful, healthy skin is impossible to achieve if you ignore these problems.
The first thing to do is to be healthy on the inside. If you each junk food and never exercise, your skin can't be healthy and beautiful. What you do on the inside affects your entire body, including your skin. Make sure you eat a healthy balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Take a ...
... daily multivitamin to get the vitamins you need to have beautiful skin. There are so many great foods you can eat to get beautiful healthy skin.
The next way to improve your skin is by preventing further damage. Much of your skin aging is due to the elements and how you treat it, not just genetics. You can prevent your skin from aging by avoiding the sun and not smoking. Smoking is not just horrible for your insides, but also for your skin. When you smoke you can get yellowish, leathery skin and you develop deep wrinkles very early on. Smoking is definitely one of the worst things you can do for your skin.
The sun is the other worst thing for your skin. If you never wear sunscreen, you are just asking for wrinkles, saggy skin, and age spots. UV rays cause a lot of damage to your skin. You do need some sun for vitamin D, but no more than 5 to 15 minutes of exposure per day. Whenever you are out in the sun for a prolonged period of times apply sunscreen. Reapply often throughout the day according to the sunscreens instructions. Everyday, you should wear a day lotion with at least SPF 15 on your face, neck, and chest, and any other exposed areas as necessary. This will help prevent skin aging.
Finally, you need to keep your skin clean and healthy on the outside. Wash your face every morning and evening with a gentle cleanser. Put on a day lotion in the morning and use a night cream with lots of vitamins at night. If you have acne, use products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to dry up the acne. If you are older and want to prevent wrinkles use serums, creams, and toners that are specially made to keep you wrinkle free.
You skin is unique and important. Treat it well and it will return the favor. Treat it poorly, and you can expect older aging skin. Just as you should keep your heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver healthy, you need to keep your skin in tip top shape!
