The total number of GMAT scores sent to schools also witnessed an increase of around 14% in 2011 from what it was in 2007. The U.S. remains the most popular study destination for GMAT scores with 77%, although the share of total GMAT scores sent to U.S. decreased from 83% in 2007. The main reason behind this decrease is the growing up of quality business schools around the world making wider and geographically diverse choices available to aspirants.
The GMAC report on current trends also shows an increase in number of women candidates and aspirants younger than 25 years taking GMAT Test. The share of women in total GMAT takers has shot up to 41 percent in 2011, which is the highest ever reported. Also the share of candidates who are younger than 25 years jumped from 37 percent in 2007 to 44 percent in2011.

As per the report, the increase in interest in GMAT exam among women and younger candidates is more prominent in the East and Southeast Asia Countries including China. The share of women in these regions imatncreased from 48 percent in 2007 to 57 percent in 2011. The report also mentions a sharp increase from ...
... 32 percent to 61 percent (almost double) in the proportion of aspirants who are younger than 25 years of these regions.
As per the GMAC report, total number of GMAT takers from countries other than US, first time surpassed the number of GMAT takers from US. In 2011, the total proportion of non-US GMAT takers reached 55 percent.
