The launch of Maruti Ertiga is inching closer minute by minute and till now, Maruti has done its level best in promoting its potential LUV (Light Utility Vehicle or Life Utility Vehicle). Earlier, many prominent carmakers have tried their hands at this segment that offers a combo of-- versatility and space, but never claimed to fame. Since last one month, there has been many test drives conducted and speculations reported ahead of its launch on 12th April’2012. As it’s a completely new segment, one can say, Ertiga resides between Maruti Swift and Toyota Innova. It’s like saying you start up with Ertiga and grow up to Innova.

Under the bonnet

Two convenient options of petrol and diesel will be available in the form of 4-cylinder inline 1.3L Multijet diesel motor smoking out 88.5 PS of power at 4000 rpm, whereas a nearly 94 PS will be yielded buy 1248cc petrol power train at 6000 rpm. Both the engines will be tweaked for better performance and will be mated to 5-pseed manual transmission.

Ride compared to Swift

Ride quality or the acceleration will not be similar to that of Maruti Swift, as it carries a length of 300mm more than the hatchback. Though, suspension remains the same with some refinement in character and configuration. The power assisted steering wheel function along with the brakes has been re calibrated to supply maximum betterment of ride.

What Price

Maruti always plays safe with cost factor and will repeat the same here as well. Also with the fact that this is not just another passenger vehicle, but an entry into all-new segment, the price should be just above the Maruti Dzire sedan, in both base and high end models.
