Some elderly care project is organized by private individuals or non government organizations who want to offer supportive aid on aged people. The Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) is a facility that will provide freedom and supportive care for people in their old age. This can be also referred to as supportive care facilities or assisted living whose aim is to help old people who need a little care to cope up with their daily activities. RCFE however cannot provide skilled nursing care for a severely disabled person since they do not have enough facilities to offer elderly people a totally independent way of living.

Some aged care programs offer assistance for old people who cannot afford to be in a nursing home where a long facilities that would provide the best care for the elderly is provided. There are even other private individuals who volunteer to offer help as part of the school education project which is associated to elderly care. The children of most elderly people hire individuals to take care of their own parents, to provide living assistance, companionship and basic medical services instead ...
... of sending them to a nursing home.

Elderly care givers are required to hold a high school diploma and must complete training before they are hired directly by an employer. They must also obtain a certification and special licensure to take a position in government agencies, home health companies and assisted living facilities. A person who wants to become a caregiver for elderly people must consider the great responsibility he has for the job. This may not be a high paying job but many people are taking training to take the job for personal fulfillment for the purpose of generally helping other people rather than the monetary benefits. Many aged care programs are hiring individuals who have the ability to make conversations, perform household works, cook meals and generally enjoy spending time with old people. It is also important for a caregiver to have better understanding on how to empathize with their clients and provide great companionship to enhance their daily lives.

Most elderly projects are looking for individuals with or without experience as long as they are emotionally and physically capable for the work to join the staffs in offering supportive care for many elderly who needs the services. Volunteers who are taking the task for a School Education Project are also welcomed. Some people who want to give a long time service will be allowed to take several weeks of online, classroom and on the job training to learn the specific rules of the project. There are companies online that provides courses in basic care techniques, first aid, safety and emergency procedures. This is a good opportunity for individuals who wants to have a career in elderly care giving.
