Husband Makes Compensation Claim Over Road Accident

A man is seeking car accident compensation over an incident involving his wife. Harry Harman's spouse Eleanor was knocked over while performing her role as a lollipop lady in South Tyneside.

The 59-year-old was stuck in February last year by a vehicle being driven by Margaret Boyles, the Shields Gazette reports. She was standing in the road trying to help someone cross when the incident occurred.

As a result of the impact with the car, Ms Harman had to spend six months in hospital and she had no memory of the accident. According to her husband, she will need care for the rest of her life because of the brain damage she sustained.

He is now taking legal action in connection with the incident. While making compensation claims like this cannot undo the harm caused, it can help people to achieve a sense of justice and it can also provide them with much needed money to enable them to more easily cover their expenses.

Recently, Ms Boyles was found guilty of careless driving during a hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

Commenting on his wife's story, Mr Harman said: "This was a very tragic ...
... incident and has continued to cause considerable stress to us on a daily basis. Eleanor suffered extremely serious injuries, and didn't even know why she was in hospital for the first six months."

He went on to state that she will no longer be able to live independently and the pair's lives will never be the same again.

The 70-year-old went on to remark: "I just hope this story highlights the need for more care on the roads, so others don't have to experience what we have gone through."

Earlier this year, Ms Harman was released from the Walkergate Park Centre, where she was being treated for her brain injuries. She still suffers from memory loss and mood swings.
